Using Google’s Wonder Wheel for Keyword Ideas

by Ryan

A tool that isn’t so obvious to a lot of new bloggers is Google’s wonder wheel. The Google wonder wheel takes a keyword that you search, then gives you similar content ideas based on your original keyword. The fun doesn’t stop there because you can click on any of the recommended keywords to see more keywords related to that keyword. You can literally just keep going until you’re on a completely different niche completely.

The Google wonder wheel is useful because it will give you related keywords that you might not have thought of without using the tool. These keywords will give you additional content ideas which will eventually get found by Google.

Below is a screenshot of using the Google wonder wheel for a niche website about Milwaukee Condos. As you can see there are eight results of similar quality, but slightly different variations. The reason the results are showing “shorewest” is because it’s one of the largest real estate brokerage companies in the area so they come up pretty high on the search results.

You can see that the Google wonder wheel is simply located as an advanced search option on the left hand column when doing a normal Google search.

From our original search we can click on any of the surrounding keywords to get more keyword ideas from that keyword. In this example I clicked on “Milwaukee Real Estate” and the continued results are shown in the image below.

If you’re planning your website or stumped for new content ideas I’d recommend taking the Google wonder wheel for a spin.
